5 Things You Should Know About Under the Norse Star (Feathers of the Phoenix Book 2)

1. I’ve been to all the places in Iceland featured in Under the Norse Star, some 3 or 4 times! My favorites are Skogafoss which I visit each time we go to Iceland. Another is Namafjall Geothermal Area or Hverir. Even writing the name fills my nose with that sulfuric (read as rotten eggs!) smell! Never have I ever smelled anything so disgusting and have to control myself not to throw-up!

2. While Rosa and Jerome have found the first Feather, they are becoming fearful of their grandfather’s reason for wanting Atlantis to rise.

3. Cats are welcome in Iceland. They get a bit of a bad rap because of the Yule Cat. In Icelandic myth, Yule Cats were said to roam the snowy land at Christmas time looking for humans to devour! We saw many cats in Iceland, but only in certain parts of the country.

4. The Phoenix is one of my favorite animals right up there with the Unicorn. The idea that a creature must be consumed by fire to be reborn is mind-boggling and fascinating! Mentions of the Phoenix go back to ancient Egypt and possibly even beyond!

5. Norse Mythology encompasses Iceland and figures prominently in the story, especially the troll and the Nylur.
